Print Giveaway

Monday, October 26th, 2009

During my show at Snowboard Connection / Pioneer Square, Downtown Seattle, I gave away some free goodies. In conjunction with Defiant we gave away a free Defiant skateboard, Logo tee, and one of my lovely limited edition prints. When I do shows with the skate shops and retailers I like to get everyone involved in one way or another. This includes the customers, staff, and artists as well. 3 lucky winners who signed into my fanbook walked away with these goodies. Unfortunately I couldn’t leave my nice digital behind so the pictures are super grainy do to the roll of film coming from a disposable. Congrats to Zoe, Jason, and Joseph!

SnoCon Shop Deck – Cascade Vagabond

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I got the green light on designing the latest skateboard shop deck for SnowBoard Connection. This rad deck just released this week. I properly titled it CASCADE VAGABOND paying homage to the Pacific Northwest and our rainy city of Seattle. The concept is a subcultural-undergroundish all-round action sports dude that fully embraces the street qualities of the skating culture.

Here is the Seattleite gripping the reigns or more like the fab of his hoodie. The rider is god-like, hence the Shiva-ish arms. Tatted and knarly he encompasses the streamlined yet grungesque charicature of this cities youth and “counter-culture”. Sno-Con cleverly enhanced upon the fingers that so readily grip his parka hood. The mid-arms with hands outstretched to feel the rain which pours from a happy cloud which adorns the “King” crown.

The character is also a twisted “yetti-style” mug. His bearded face and hair-like arms are not just a reference to the mountain beast but many o character of this rainycity. His expression is one of power and strength which hearkens the attitude of the skate/ski culture as well as the integrity of SnoCon.
Around his neck and arms are his accessories. The rings, ropes, chains, leather, and scarves that accent his features are all there. The lower hands strategically express “NW” (not gang-signish!). It is kinda hidden and yet there in your face. This is a true rep of the Pacific Northwest in general.

Beery Method Artist Interview

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

I had an absolute blast doing my artist interview with Denise Dougherty of GirlOnAMission TV. She caught me at my show at Urban Light Studios in the Greenwood Collective at the end of September. My show AGENTS OF DAWN was still up which was a review of my past illustrative work as well as some current paintings. She had some nice ice breakers and then we got into the nitty-gritty of my views on the visual arts arena, the economy, politics, and my processes. The show aired on SCANTV here in Seattle last weekend. Once I get an archive of the full 30 minute segment I will repost and update so you can catch the entire interview. Here is a sample from the original show.

I simply had to put in a submission for Threadless Loves contest Innovation. Innovation flows in and out of our world’s cities in a systematical flow. Like the circular system of our being information runs down the and out the web of overpasses and fast lanes into the grid of modelers and information architects. Thus feeds the reformation of an age of GI: Global Intelligence – Innovate • Create • Recalibrate
